With 6:02 left in the third quarter, DeMar DeRozan of Chicago committed a hard foul on Houston's Jalen Green. With Green on the floor, his teammate Dillon Brooks approached DeRozan, sparking a verbal altercation.
As Brooks and DeRozan were getting into each other's faces, their teammates intervened to separate the two players.
Several security personnel were involved in the incident, one of them fell to the ground with Brooks.
After the tensions subsided, DeRozan received a flagrant 2 foul, which results in an automatic ejection.
Following an investigation into the incident, Brooks was removed for a technical foul.
simply DeRozan and Brooks were penalised, since the other players were found to have simply been present to de-escalate the situation.
"DeRozan was assessed a Flagrant Foul penalty 2 because the contact was excessive and unnecessary," Crew Chief Curtis Blair wrote in the Pool Report following the game.
"Brooks escalated the situation, therefore he was given a technical foul and ejected," Blair went on to say.
