Caitlin Clark Embraces Touching Moment With Fans Amid WNBA Debut [Watch]

Caitlin Clark was unable to leave the floor fast following the preseason game on May 3 because a tunnel of fans demanded her autograph on the way out.

The Indiana Fever rookie standout guard signed as much memorabilia as she could on her way to the locker room following a 79-76 loss to the Dallas Wings.

Clark began with a girl's orange WNBA shirt near the baseline and made her way through the crowd in a video that had received 242,600 views and growing by May 4.

Clark attributed the enjoyment of women's basketball to the fans. "I think over the course of the last couple of years, it's just grown and grown."

"And, you know, for them to come out and support during my first WNBA game is really special not only for myself, but, you know, both teams on the court," she said. "They get to see how good this product is."

Clark finished with 21 points on 6-15 shooting, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 28 minutes of play. She had a last-second opportunity to tie the game, but she missed a 25-foot three-pointer.

"You couldn't have asked for a better game, honestly. Clark described the start of this year's women's basketball season as "a tremendous game coming down to the wire [with] both teams competing". "And, you know, that's going to be the story of the entire year."

Despite the fact that it was a preseason game, Arlington's College Park Centre was packed with 7,000 fans that night. The Fever will play their second preseason game at home against the Atlanta Dream on May 9.
